Content Cleaning

When a January fire tore through a Grosse Pointe Farms home, the homeowner thought everything was lost. Walls were charred, windows broken, and snow fell through what remained of the roof. The once prized possessions, including antiques, photos, and furniture were covered with soot and smelled of smoke. Within 48 hours of the initial loss and after emergency services were completed, an ISC crew itemized and inventoried the family’s possessions, those items that were deemed salvageable were carefully wrapped, packed, and loaded into waiting moving vans. The contents of the home were then taken to ISC’s state of the art cleaning center and warehouse where they were carefully cleaned, ozoned, and stored in our secure vaults. As soon as the home restoration was completed the family’s possessions were returned clean, refurbished, and odor free. “I am ecstatic with the results,” writes the homeowner, “and can truly state you turned a nightmare into a positive experience”.

Commercial Restoration and Reconstruction

University Dormitory

On a frigid Christmas Eve a sprinkler line froze and ruptured on the 9th floor of a local University dormitory. Several thousand gallons of water under high pressure were released to cascade through nine floors. At 10:00 P.M. a call went out to ISC Services who assembled a team of emergency technicians to begin an emergency dry-down of the structure and stabilization of the interior environment. As the floors dried sequentially from the top down, ISC mobilized a force of over 100 tradesmen to begin building restoration from the top down. Because of ISC Services rapid response and seamless transition from emergency service to production, the nine story structure with one million dollars in damages was repaired in time for the students return from holiday break on January 13th, eighteen days after the initial call came in.

Banquet Hall - Restaurant fire

Thursday afternoon at 1:00 P.M., a 600-seat Troy, Michigan Banquet Facility area banquet facility experienced a grease fire in their 5,000 square foot kitchen. The entire facility was affected by smoke and “Halon” discharged by the automatic extinguisher system. ISC Services was contacted at 2:00 P.M. and an ISC Services manager was on site within 20 minutes to assess the situation and chart a course of action. ISC Services mobilized 4 steam cleaning crews and 25 cleaning technicians who worked through the night to clean every utensil, rack, surface, and piece of equipment in the commercial kitchen. ISC’s content and cleaning personnel went to work cleaning every piece of furniture and surface in the bar and dining rooms. Working through the night allowed the ISC manager to schedule Halon extinguisher recharging, building inspection, and health department inspections early Friday morning. ISC Services was able to complete the entire project within 24 hours of the initial fire with no loss of business. The banquet facility was able to serve 300 guests scheduled for Friday at 6:00 P.M.

Water/Hurricane damage

The wake of Hurricane Rita found Sprints’ 12-story multi-tenant office building missing a significant portion of the roof and several windows. After the wind ripped off the roof, nearly 5 inches of rain cascaded into the exposed building causing damage to every floor. ISC SERVICES emergency personnel worked double and triple shifts to stabilize the interior environment utilizing nearly a thousand pieces of drying equipment. Immediately after the building was confirmed dry, restoration began in earnest. Our goal was to conduct comprehensive restoration services with minimum impact to the tenants. This project was completed within 90 days of the hurricane impact.

Water/Hurricane damage

Hurricane Wilma heavily damaged a Marco Island resort on October 24th, 2005. ISC SERVICES Cat team responded in force to dry the building down and immediately begin the repairs so that the rooms booked for the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday would be ready for guests. Our team helped the resort meet those commitments and subsequent client reservations for the balance of the holiday season. By doing so, the resort preserved the goodwill of their client base while reducing loss of business exposure. This complicated loss posed several challenges that could have upset the production schedule. By working as a team with hotel management, our joint goal of rapid project completion with minimal business interruption was achieved to the satisfaction of our client.

Mold Remediation

During a renovation of a large Columbus Hotel building, mold was found in 40 separate rooms and common areas. The renovation contractor contacted other remediation companies for bids to perform the work. ISC was contacted by the hotels’ management team based on our outstanding performance on a recent emergency project at another of their hotels. The ISC estimate was prepared within 48 hours of inspection and work was scheduled for the following week. A team was assembled and dispatched, work was completed in four days maintaining minimal interference with the construction crew. Another important note is that our estimate was less than half of the other contractors contacted for proposals.

Residential Reconstruction

Home - fire

When the New Years Eve celebration was in full swing at a beautiful 5,500 square foot Bloomfield home, a potential tragedy had started in the garage. While 17 friends and family members celebrated, a fire ignited by smoldering fireworks debris from earlier in the evening. The fire tore its way through the attic space before anyone knew there was anything wrong. By the time the revelers noticed the smoke and evacuated, the roof was engulfed in flames. The fire department needed 4 hours to bring the blaze under control. Before dawn the ISC emergency line rang with a call from the homeowners insurance agent to assist his client and friend. A senior ISC manager was on site within thirty minutes on that cold, snowy morning assessing the damage and setting a course of action. Within an hour a small army of 30 ISC carpenters and technicians were dispatched to secure the home and prevent further damage to the structure and contents. The roof had been completely burned away, exposing salvageable contents and structure to the harsh January elements. ISC carpenters worked through the day and night to complete a temporary roof structure over the massive home to provide protection from the impending storm. After the temporary roof was built and temporary heat and electric turned on, technicians began to remove tons of wet building materials to stabilize the interior environment, saving salvageable structural components and the homeowners prized possessions. Contents were promptly inventoried and carefully packed away to be cleaned and stored at ISC’s state-of-the-art facility. ISC’s estimator began to work immediately in conjunction with the Insurance adjuster to produce a comprehensive scope of repairs that exceeded $650,000. An ISC project manager was assigned within 48 hours of the fire to establish a professional relationship with the homeowner and begin the first stages of construction, ordering trusses, scheduling demolition, and assigning tradesmen so that the entire restoration could be completed in the shortest possible timeframe. In September the happy homeowners moved back into a beautifully restored home where their cleaned and restored contents awaited their arrival.

Water damage - residential

Two teachers returning from a well-deserved vacation were confronted with a calamity upon returning to their 1800 square foot colonial style home. A broken pipe under a second floor caused over $60,000 damage to the interior of the home. Within one hour, two experienced mangers from ISC were on site to review with the homeowners and subsequently the adjuster. A comprehensive course of action for emergency service, contents and structure was set in motion. By orchestrating the project from the onset, ISC was able to coordinate a seamless transition from emergency dry down to pack out, and finally total loss inventory. A permit was pulled for reconstruction three weeks from the date of loss. After fast track renovations were completed the stored contents were packed back. Our customer moved home within 90 days of the original loss.
